Five Minutes to Makeup- For Busy Moms and Women Alike

Updated: Nov 23, 2023

Five minutes can come and go quickly when you are a busy mom like me. These quick tips to achieve a quick makeup look is for those who are short on time but still want to look like a more polished version of self.

SKIN PREP

  • The key to keeping your daily makeup routine at five minutes (maybe eight if you are applying lip liner) is to make sure you apply your skincare directly after you wash your face.

  • The best place to apply your skincare is the shower since the warmth can aid in the absorption of your serum, moisturizer and SPF.

  • If you are looking for a good recommendation for skincare, check out world renowned bridal makeup artist, educator and business woman, Sonia Roselli's skincare line. Many makeup artists, like me, carry her skincare line in our kits because it makes skin smooth, hydrated and supple. Trust me, it is the BOMB (and yep, I just showed my age with that comment, ha!).

 GATHER ESSENTIALS

  • Another way to ensure you keep the time down, is to have all your makeup and tools in place before you start.

  • You will need makeup brushes or sponges, an eyelash curler, eyebrow pencil, eyeliner, mascara, foundation or tinted moisturizer, blush, bronzer, loose powder and tinted lip gloss or lip stain.

START THE CLOCK ....AND GO

  • Fill in your brows.

  • Using a brush, sponge or clean fingers, apply a small amount of foundation and dab in the center of your face, blending outward toward the hairline. Apply all over, as needed, and do not forget to add a bit to your neck.

  • Add a concealer or another layer of foundation if necessary. The key is to build the coverage you need rather than adding too much in the beginning.

  • Make a fake smile and add a light application of blush to your cheeks.

  • Use the same blush color or the bronzer (mix the two if you are feeling fancy) and add a swash of color on the eyelids.

  • Curl your eyelashes and add eyeliner and mascara.

  • Lips

FINISHING TOUCHES

  • Load a brush with loose powder and tap off the excess...apply to the center of the face.

Stop the clock and admire your polished look!

Thank for giving me at least 2 minutes of your time to learn how to apply makeup in five. If you feel like you need a little more guidance on how to apply the makeup or developing a routine that is specific to your needs, book a virtual class with me and to discuss.

Beautifully,

Dee Gilmore
